Professional Ballooning Association of Australia

The Professional Ballooning Association of Australia (PBAA) was incorporated in 2001 as the representative body and lobbyist for commercial ballooning operations in Australia.

The association has three classes of membership:

  • Air Operator Certificate holders (voting members);
  • Commercial Pilots (non – voting);
  • Associates ( manufacturers, maintainers, legal advisors, insurance representatives etc).

Our full member organisations all hold Air Operator Certificates issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and are licenced to a conduct a variety of functions including:

  • Commerical passenger ride (charter) operations;
  • Aerial Advertising;
  • Aerial Photography;
  • Flying Training.

The association has been actively involved in the development of industry standards since inception and is recognised by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority as the peak ballooning organisation in Australia.

The association members fly around 10,000 hours each year carrying more than 150,000 passengers annually. This represents more than 85% of all balloon activity in Australia.
